The Chinese Map of the Tracks of Yu the Great was carved into stone in the year 1137 during the Song Dynasty. It depicts a riverine network on a regular grid of squares. The map's title derives from the Yugong, a treatise describing the sage-king Yu's mythical channeling of China's rivers.
